Equine influenza vaccinations. The Blue Book states that all horses competing in ECAHO competitions should have necessary vaccination. However the special exemption for national shows in the UK remains in place and only those horses competing in international (UK or overseas) shows must be vaccinated.
Some confusion has arisen because under ECAHO Rules the third dose (or first booster) must be given not more than 6 months after the second primary.
However Jockey Club Rules apply to some venues and their requirement is that the first booster is given between 150 and 215 days.
This means that a horse may be allowed into the stable area under Jockey Club rules but then be turned away from its class because the first booster has been administered too late to comply with ECAHO Rules.
